Episode 1 (the first game) has received an update after two years of silence. Development had been discontinued following patch 6.0.1 in 2024, but update 6.1 arrived on August 4th.
This update fixes a bug that prevented players from returning to Goigo City after reaching the Overworld, as well as issues triggering the "José's Trial" event (which is crucial for completing the game). It also adds two new music tracks, a secret boss, and a battle boost mechanic.
And we update all key story cutscenes to provide more information, revise juvenile dialogue, correct translation errors, and align the narrative with the comic (Only available in Spanish).
This game has been updated to version 2.0.4, adding new animations and the "Deck-Bang" ability for Nideho, along with some additions for the secret ending.
Version 2.1 is expected later this year; it will introduce more playable Omis, a fusion mechanic, evolution, and the ability to transfer Omi from *RouxnoBlue* to *RouxnoBlue Episode 2*.
Development is ongoing. The soundtrack has recently been completed, featuring 31 tracks and 3 demos that will be available on the official album upon release. Two tracks created in 2023 were excluded because they unfinished and in MIDI format.
Work on the soundtrack began in 2023, many of the game's songs had sat in a folder for years, their potential use uncertain, so seeing them finally come together is deeply rewarding.
What is the status of the game?
As expected, the game is still in the testing phase. We are currently figuring out the JRPG mechanics and how to adapt the traditionally linear *RouxnoBlue* experience into an exploration-based one (even though the map is quite small).
We’ve decided to build the game in RPG Maker MZ using entirely original assets, so we’re dedicating a lot of time to the visual style before tackling the current mess that is the rest of the game, though the first cinematic is already finished (even if it’s only three minutes long).
What about Spanish Comic?
Although Volume 9 was expected to launch back in February, managing so many *RouxnoBlue* projects alongside other series has been exhausting. We hope to release it as soon as possible, with the best presentation we can offer.
That’s it for today’s devlog, thanks for reading!
